Family Friendly Sunscreen & Insect Repellant
As parents, it is our duty to keep our kids safe. Many sunscreens today contain so many harmful chemicals. Making your own sunscreen is easy and there is no worry about what you are rubbing into your bodies!
After researching about a hundred different DIY sunscreen recipies, I was able to come up with my own recipe! My version has so many wonderful benefits! These benefits include:
-mousturizing
-waterproof
-insect repellent
-approximately SPF 40
-fresh scent
-chemical free
-mess free application
I'm all about recycling! I stored my finished product in an old deodorant tube, and for travel sized options, I used an old chapstick tube and a glue stick tube that I stole from my son's art supply box! The remainder, I stuck in a small jar with a lid.
To make this recipe, you will need a double boiler. I just used a glass measuring cup and placed it in a pot of water. Once the water is boiling, reduce the heat to medium. Add the ingredients, whisk, and pour into your containers! So simple! Please let me know what you think!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup coconut oil
4tbsp beeswax
2tbsp zinc oxide (non-nano powder)
1tbsp hemp oil
30 drops carrot seed oil
15 drops lavender oil
10 drops Rosemary oil
10 drops eucalyptus oil
1/2tsp vitamin e oil

This is the double broiler method that I came up with! Call me MacGyver! The spout is great for pouring! Just fill the pot with water and place your glass bowl or measuring cup in it; make sure the water doesn't get into your product!
